In the second consecutive race weekend at the Red Bull Ring, it was thought that Red Bull and Mercedes would again be fighting for pole position. As expected, these two teams competed for pole position and Lando Norris was also involved in this fight. However, Max Verstappen always ran flawless laps from the start of the session and won pole position ahead of Sunday’s race. Red Bull, Mercedes, AlphaTauri, Aston Martin drivers as well as Williams’s George Russell and McLaren’s Lando Norris remained in the final round of qualifying.
Verstappen finished 1:03,720 after the first laps in qualifying and moved up to first place on the timetable. After the first laps, Norris was surprisingly second ahead of the Mercedes drivers, while Hamilton and Bottas were third and fourth. Verstappen failed to improve his fastest time in his last attempt, but finished first in qualifying to earn pole position ahead of Sunday’s race. This marks the Dutchman’s third consecutive pole position, raising his pole count to four this year.
